The works, that Mariarosaria Stigliano dedicates to passengers and travellers which attend the Termini Station and underground in Rome, are full of characters.
The freedom in the mark is united with the idea to tell short stories, even if of some seconds: for many characters in her works, the trip is just a needs to move.
The urban context, like the station, scene of infinite stories, it fit successfully for the desire to tell daily events which involves each of us. In cold tonalities, that suggest the contemporary frenzy, we can recognize hurried business-men like in “Passengers“, and girls who walk self-confident, like in “Pendolari“; hotter tonalities are saved for lazy, undecided wayfarers, waiting for, maybe a meeting.however everybody are in frenetic harmony with the space surrounding, taking up coral tonalities, like in “Piazza di Spagna“.
The characters are represented with a particular foreshortening from low, it seems like if they’ re spied on by the artist: but everybody, careless, let that someone tells about themselves in a very narcissistic way.being so protagonists for few minutes. And then a pause, almost a reflection pause, about where we are really going, fixed in that is still standing against the light.
